Punjab VAT amendment Act 2008

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has approved the amendment in the Punjab Value Added Tax Act, 2008 to the Union Territory of Chandigarh

The salient amendment is the facilitation of Summary assessment at the option of the dealers pending Sales assessment cases prior December 14, 2005 i.e. before VAT came into existence. The rules and conditions for deemed assessment would be framed by the Administration at the earliest.

In addition to above, another significant amendment is enabling the collection of VAT on sale of Petroleum products at first stage itself.
