TELANGANA BUDGET 2015-16

Post-bifurcation, the State presented its first budget in November 2014 and Telangana's maiden full-fledged budget, post-bifurcation was presented in the state assembly on 11th March, 2015 by Finance Minister Etela Rajender, continued its focus on welfare of weaker sections and development of irrigation, agriculture, roads and buildings. The government unveiled the tax-free budget for 2015-16 with a whopping total outlay of Rs.1,15,689 Crores and estimated revenue surplus of Rs.531 Crores.

Finance minister Etela Rajender said the state has faced constraints in raising the plan outlay in 2015-16 mainly on the account of less-than-expected tax devolution from the award of the 14th finance commission and the reduction in plan transfers from the Centre.

The VAT collections remained subdued because of general stagnation in economic growth.

The government has laid more emphasis on welfare of Scheduled Castes/Tribes & Backward Class.
